Why Miss Carla

Yesterday I was feeling rather down about everything really. Patience has never been a strong point for me. Trade at the boutique is slow. There just were not many people around throughout the week. Plus being between seasons make the clients unsure about what they want. Should they spend or should they wait?

So starting Miss Carla has been a dream in my mind for 10 years at least. The enthusiasm of a gorgeous and talented friend fuelled my passion to actually get this moving I cannot wait till she gets back to OZ! Spreading myself over the business, my husband and mostly my kids, not to mention housework and the likes is a major juggle. This is not easy at all!

One thing I have in my favour however is stubbornness!!!! I am not giving up.

I read a great book a little while back. My husband picked it up for me. "So you have a great idea for a business - now what" by Justin Herald. One of the many things I take from this book is that a business plan needs to evolve. If the idea is not working then change it, adapt it.

That's where I am now. Figuring out who is Miss Carla.

I  opened my boutique. I bought stock. I constantly get complimented on what a gorgeous shop. What great taste I have. What fabulous stock. So why don't  they buy stuff? I am told it is too young then I buy more mature stuff. I am told the sizes are not big enough for big ladies so I buy bigger. They want sleeves , I give them sleeves...... well, I have had it!( OK they do buy a bit)

On new Years day my husband  and I had the most awesome night out. Completely impulsive, local, casual and totally enjoyable. We said that 2011 was the year of self promotion. . Opposite to how I am brought up. I am trying to live by this.

So now I have a blog. I am Miss Carla. I am a designer and a stylist and I know my trends, what works, what looks amazing and what does not!

It's nearly Monday morning. Like most I guess it means the start of a diet again. Back into training. ( going to run the mothers day classic this year)http://www.mothersdayclassic.com.au/. Join me. I am serious. I go for runs after work. Love to start a casual run club. I am not Olympic level so it won't be scary - promise. Mothers Day classic is only 8km. I have one stunning friend in already!

I have decided to make this business about me. Keep reading for how it unfolds.

When I was at high school, one of my favourite blushing science teachers asked me what I wanted to be one day. I replied "rich and famous" About to have a go!

By the way, I love the name Clara Lou and I think a pink/nude colour (not quite salmon) is stunning and coming through really strong as an Autumn colour.
